Veera Rislachius (b. 1993) is an artist originally from Isokyrö, who has wandered and meandered here and there over the years - following her studies, coincidences, and impulses.
However, now, in celebration, Rislachius has brought her art back home to Kyrö, and there are several reasons for celebration! Rislachius's artworks were exhibited at Kyrö Distillery Company first time ten years ago, at the distillery's grand opening celebration. At that time, only taped outlines of the future world-famous stills were visible on the walls.
In addition to this 10th anniversary, with her exhibition ALGEBRA, Rislachius also celebrates her recent graduation as a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Culture, and raises a glass (preferably with Kyrö's Ruusupuro) to her blooming age crisis, having just reached the milestone of turning 30!
As an artist, Veera Rislachius works and expresses herself in a multidisciplinary manner, ranging from traditional painting and sculpture to video works and interactive installations, among others.
Rislachius's artworks reflect the artist's contemplation of existential and open-ended questions, and the emotions they evoke - as well as her playful examination with traditional proverbs and nostalgic elements.
ALGEBRA is Rislachius's first solo exhibition since her graduation, and it presents selected works from her artistic production of past years. Some of the newest pieces will see the sunlight for the first time at the Kyrö Visitor Centre.
Rislachius has had artworks previously exhibited at places such as MUU Helsinki Contemporary Art Centre, Myymälä2 in Helsinki, and the Tobacco Warehouse at the City Museum of Pietarsaari.
Vernissage will be held on Saturday 15th of July, starting from 19:00 o’clock.
